Arofatul Ulya
Yayasan Perpustakaan Islam or
Islamic Library Foundation Kudus. Located at St. Simpang Tujuh number 3 Kudus.
This place was built on 1975, donate by H. Ma’ruf Nawawi’s grandfather, owner of
PR. Jambu Bol. This library was very popular around 1980. Actually this
building is house before became a library. Because of that, land near the house
built in two rooms. In the south side is for meeting of library manager, and in
the north side is for lending book. The main house is place for read and book
case.
The
existence of libraries displaced by advanced technologies such as mobile
phones, internet, and smartphones. In recent years, the number of end only
about 10 to 15 people, but at first could reach 20 to 25 people every day. Low
enthusiasts, making it look alarming library with many books were lost and
abandoned. Until now, there has been no attention from the government or donors
to repair and function as a previous library.
In fact,
when viewed from the cultural aspect, the library also needs to be preserved
because the building is a classic and historic. Although the library near from
central city, it also has cool weather. That why this old library became my
favorite place. I think that when the governments or donor have attention for
this, the classic building will be saved and became library museum.
